The mission of the Missoula Food Bank is to respond to the emergency food needs of the hungry and work to reduce the incidence of hunger. It is essentially a small, free grocery store for those who need food and cannot afford it. Each year the Food Bank distributes more than 250 tons of food—enough to serve roughly 1,000 households a month! The Food Bank needs volunteers to share their time and energy with stocking shelves, sorting food, interviewing clients, bagging groceries, helping with food drives, delivering food to the home-bound, and much more. Those who walk through the doors of the Food Bank are not just in need of food; they’re in need of compassion in the midst of humility, just as we all are. Serving this mission doesn’t cost anything, just a little hard work and a lot of love.
