Hope Unlimited for Children is a ministry to street children in Brazil. Hope’s mission is transforming lives of children at mortal risk, providing them with a productive future and eternal hope. The goal is not just rescue from ultimate death on the street but transformation through well developed academics and vocational programs in a nurturing family like setting surrounded with the love of Jesus Christ. The next step is re-entry into Brazilian society as a productive, contributing member of society. Hope Unlimited has been privileged to see so many former street children become mature Christian adults in its 17 years of ministry.
First Presbyterian Church is a part of Hope Unlimited in yearly financial giving and prayers. Donna Rollins, a dental hygienist from our congregation, takes a yearly trip to Brazil to clean the children’s teeth. Each year someone teams up with Donna to work in the dental room. There are also painting and other projects that have been accomplished by others who also go with her. Whether painting or cleaning teeth the main objective is interaction with the kids and staff to bring a touch of God’s love and encouragement, to be servants to those already serving in Brazil. Those visiting and working at Hope have the privilege of working along side dedicated Christians serving in God’s ministry to street kids. God is already at work at Hope. We just have the joy of joining in for a week or two.
In future summers a larger work team is anticipated going to Brazil to do a project on one of the homes on the Hope campus in Campinas Brazil. Each team members cost would be around $3,000 and an additional $1,000 to $2,000 would be needed to furnish supplies for the project to be done. Also we hope to adopt one of the homes on the campus to continue to pay for upkeep or perhaps sponsor the Hope Unlimited soccer team ($4,000 per year for all supplies and uniforms needed as well as a coach’s salary). Join in the joy of serving where God is already at work.
